THE COURT RESULT
A woman has been jailed for 14 weeks after pleading guilty to a shoplifting offence in Newbury.
Hayley Solly, 51, of Newtown Road, was sentenced at Reading Magistrates’ Court on 9 September 2026. Thames Valley Police announced the result on 25 September.
THE THEFT
On 30 June 2026, Solly stole electrolytes and hydration pouches worth £171.96 from Holland & Barrett in Northbrook Street, Newbury.
She admitted theft from a shop. The offence was committed during the operational period of an existing suspended prison sentence.
HOW THE SENTENCE WAS IMPOSED
Magistrates activated an eight-week suspended prison sentence and imposed a further sentence for the new theft. The total prison term was 14 weeks.
The police report does not separately state the term imposed for the new offence.
THE POLICE RESPONSE
Investigating officer PC Alasdair Ferrie, of the Newbury Neighbourhood Policing Team, said the conviction reflected the force’s determination to pursue offenders and support businesses affected by retail crime.
