The case
Axel Rudakubana killed Bebe King, Elsie Dot Stancombe and Alice da Silva Aguiar at a Southport dance workshop on 29 July 2024. Ten other people were victims of attempted murder.
Evidence and court findings
He pleaded guilty to all 16 charges on the scheduled first day of trial. They included knife possession, producing ricin and possessing a document useful for terrorism. The sentencing judge considered the planning, young victims and the full extent of the offending. A whole-life order was unavailable because Rudakubana was 17 when he offended.
