The case
Farzana Kauser led a drug importation group involving five of her children. The CPS valued the cocaine at nearly £5 million wholesale and described at least five importation trips between August and November 2024.
Evidence and court findings
Members booked short journeys to European airports, timing their return to Birmingham alongside flights from Mexico. The prosecution linked the group to approximately 180kg of cocaine. Kauser and several co-defendants admitted a conspiracy to evade the prohibition on importing a Class A controlled drug.
The sentence
Birmingham Crown Court sentenced Kauser to 13 years and four months on 18 July 2025. The defendants had different roles and received different outcomes; this report records Kauser’s immediate custodial sentence and does not treat every member of the family as convicted or jailed.
