The case
Gemma Kingsley deceived men she was in relationships with by claiming that a substantial inheritance would reimburse their spending. Victims funded furniture, travel, vehicles and other costs, while some were left with significant debts.
Evidence and court findings
The CPS said forged professional letters helped sustain the deception. Kingsley also used bank cards without permission and opened a betting account in another person’s name. Legal firms and a bank were affected by false documentation. Her offending extended over four years.
The sentence
Kingsley admitted six theft counts, four fraud counts, two offences involving false instruments and possessing an article for fraud. Swindon Crown Court sentenced her to seven years and seven months on 25 March 2026, following guilty pleas in February.
