Kyle Clifford: whole-life orders for the Hunt family murders

Three murders in Bushey led to whole-life orders at Cambridge Crown Court.

The case

Kyle Clifford murdered Carol Hunt and her daughters Louise and Hannah at their Bushey home on 9 July 2024. Louise was his former partner.

Evidence and court findings

The judge described extensive preparation before Clifford gained access to the house. The offences involved a knife and a crossbow. Clifford admitted the murders, false imprisonment and weapon offences, and a jury convicted him of raping Louise. The court heard accounts of the lasting harm to the surviving family.

The sentence

Cambridge Crown Court imposed whole-life orders on 11 March 2025. A 20-year rape sentence and sentences for the other offences ran concurrently. These additional terms do not shorten or replace the whole-life orders imposed for each murder.
