Photographs released with the case record. The captions identify the people shown.

The case

Six defendants carried out surveillance on people and locations of interest to the Russian state between 2020 and 2023. The operation used false identities, covert devices and travel across Europe.

Evidence and court findings

Communications, financial records, travel evidence and seized equipment supported the prosecution. Some defendants pleaded guilty; others were convicted after trial. The court assessed their roles individually.

The sentence

On 12 May 2025, Orlin Roussev received ten years and eight months; Biser Dzhambazov ten years and two months; Katrin Ivanova nine years and eight months; Ivan Stoyanov five years and three weeks; Vanya Gaberova six years, eight months and three weeks; and Tihomir Ivanchev eight years. The sentences were separate terms for six people, rather than one combined sentence to be served by each.
