Sharon Twitchett jailed for abusing a financial position

A financial appointee took £11,129 from a vulnerable man who trusted her.

The case

Sharon Twitchett was responsible for a vulnerable man’s finances between 2017 and 2021. Instead of protecting his interests, she used his money for her own spending.

Evidence and court findings

Norfolk Constabulary described repeated cash withdrawals and payments for personal appointments. The total taken was £11,129. A statement from the victim’s sister explained how the betrayal affected his confidence and ability to trust people. Twitchett pleaded guilty to fraud by abuse of position.

The sentence

Norwich Crown Court imposed a 19-month prison sentence on 2 March 2026 and prohibited contact with the victim through a restraining order. The police release also mentioned separate proceeds-of-crime proceedings; it did not establish a completed compensation recovery.
