The case
Stephen McCullagh murdered Natalie McNally at her Lurgan home on 18 December 2022. She was 32 and pregnant. A jury unanimously convicted him in March 2026.
Evidence and court findings
McCullagh had prepared a six-hour YouTube stream and presented it as live on the night of the murder. Cybercrime specialists established that it had been recorded earlier. CCTV, other digital material and witness evidence helped the prosecution show his movements and planning. The PPS also described a false trail directed towards an innocent former partner.
The sentence
On 3 June 2026, Belfast Crown Court set a 31-year minimum tariff for the life sentence. The court result followed an investigation that tested the apparent online alibi against independently obtained evidence.
