Role and background
Feltham combines two different establishments in London. Feltham A is a young offender institution for boys aged 15 to 18, while Feltham B is a Category C prison and young offender institution for men over 18.
Work opportunities include cleaning, laundry, catering and kitchen duties. Money earned can be spent on approved canteen goods and permitted catalogue purchases.
Inside the prison and daily life
The two populations do not mix in accommodation, education or activities. Boys have individual rooms, while adult accommodation can be single or shared.
Residential units have telephones, showers, laundry facilities and communal areas. Rooms and cells contain a toilet and basin.
Education operates five days a week. Subjects include English, maths, computing, languages, barbering, catering and other vocational qualifications.
Visiting and family contact
Sport, fitness, workshops and library access form part of the activities available. Chaplaincy services support people of different faiths, and family services provide help to relatives.
New arrivals receive welfare checks and an induction explaining rules, learning and contact arrangements. Visiting requirements depend on the relevant part of the establishment and should be checked before travelling.
Practical advice before you make arrangements
Use Feltham's official page below for its current booking route, required identification, permitted items and travel instructions.
Confirm that the person is still at Feltham and that your visit has been accepted before making travel arrangements. Ask the prison in advance about disability access, medication or children's needs.
